What does ‘real life’ look like? Does it exist, only insofar as we can explain secured life to ourselves? As long as it is legible to us and to others? As long as it approaches consensus? At the which point do these embraces solidify, implode and become a farce, turn into their contrary, into anarchy , into revolt against our self and against any concept of a ‘real life” which calls to be defended.
General Public watches itself- again and again-, as it maneauvers between a will for freedom and a desire for security. Perhaps it is the great paradox of our generation: we believe in balance, but this balance is thrown out again and again. Then, something is done to restore it, and the ritual is repeated. All of life is more of a staging of this effort than the effort itself. Only when the machine threatens to explode is there awareness of Revolution, or else, simply shit. And this pressure cooker is exactly what one calls art. No reality has more truth than the other, and all reality can break- oh yes.
